THE QUEEN has had a morale boosting win as she battles Covid-19 after one of her exciting horses romped home.
Her Majesty is isolating while fighting the virus after it ripped through Windsor Castle at the weekend.
Buckingham Palace announced on Sunday the 95-year-old was being monitored around the clock.
But the monarch will have been boosted after odds-on favourite Kincardine stormed home in the 2m and half furlong maiden hurdle at Newbury.
The Nicky Henderson trained horse made all the running at odds of 4-6 to win by around four-and-a-half lengths.
The five-year-old, who was also bred by the Queen, won a race at Southwell on his debut in May.
Henderson told the Racing Post: “I hope the winner puts a smile on Her Majesty’s face and I do hope she’s not feeling too bad.
“We’re all sad to hear Her Majesty has Covid. I don’t know if that’s Covid medicine but I hope it is.
“I believe Kincardine has a bright future and he should make a nice chaser in a year’s time.
“He’ll want three miles and he’s done well to win over this distance. He’s not a two-miler but in these conditions you’ve got to stay well.”
The Queen has celebrated three winners from 17 runners over jumps this season.
She is understood to be suffering from mild cold symptoms and is hoping to be back doing light duties this week.

Henderson added about the horse: “We always knew it was going to be tough and I didn’t really want to come back to two miles with him.
“There was a pretty competitive race at Ascot on Saturday over two and a half miles, which looked nice and was an option, but we decided to go for this maiden.
“In this ground it was far enough for him. It was hard work but he enjoyed it and handled it well. This is only practice and he should make a three-mile chaser. I hope he might be a rather smart one.”
