MEGHAN Markle stunned onlookers when she arrived at St George’s Chapel in a stunning white gown by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy on May 19 2018.
But her wedding dress came as something of a shock to the late Queen who was ‘surprised’ she wore a pure white gown, a new bombshell book has revealed.

According to sources, her choice in colour came as a shock to late Queen
Sources say that the late monarch is likely to have expected divorcee Meghan to wear an off-white dress as Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall did
In her new book The New Royals, royal expert Katie Nicholl says that the late monarch had thought that, as a divorcee, Meghan might have opted for another colour.
In an extract shared with The Mail on Sunday, Nicholl writes: “The wedding day was a great success, although the Queen had reservations about the pure white of Meghan’s Givenchy dress, designed by Clare Waight Keller.”
Traditionally a white wedding dress is symbolic of a woman’s “purity” on her wedding day, and represents the bride’s virginity.
With Meghan having previously been married, Her Majesty may have expected her to opt for an off-white gown as Camilla had done when she married Charles.

Quoting a source, Nicholl adds: “The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day.
“Perhaps it’s a generational thing, but she believes if you’ve been married before, you wear off-white on your wedding day, which is what the Duchess of Cornwall did.”

The wedding was a four-day affair and pictures have since shown drinking games on the beach in the run-up to the big day.
The couple separated just two years after their wedding and were divorced in August 2013, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
