Footage of The Queen’s 70 years on the throne kicked off the special

Megastar Tom, 59, was one of the first guests to sit down and chat to Phil and Julie, and told them about his love for the UK and particularly The Queen.

He appeared after footage of Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne aired on screen, and viewers were left bursting with pride to be British.

One person tweeted: “We need to embrace and celebrate the most remarkable achievement of HRH”

Another shared their sentiments, writing on Twitter: “Jubilee celebrations on @ITV in honour of HM The Queen. She has served people and countries with honour and dignity. We’re lucky to have her.”

As another said about the stunning Windsor location: “Love it when all eyes are on #Windsor, it’s a bloody beaut place”

Top Gun star Tom said he was honoured to be part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

He said: “She’s a woman that I greatly admire, what she has accomplished has been historic.

“I just remember always as a kid seeing photos of her. I came to England, started making movies here in 1982, started producing here because I liked the crews. I loved the history. I have great respect for her, so when they asked I said yes immediately.”

He couldn’t resist promoting his new movie, and relived a conversation with Prince Philip, who died aged 99 years old last year.

He also revealed the Duke told him he landed the first ever helicopter at Buckingham Palace.

Kate and William were among the first people to watch Top Gun 2 getting a private screening last month, The Celeb Report revealed.

An all-star line up of British and international talent has been confirmed for tonight, including Tom, Dame Helen Mirren, Damian Lewis, Omid Djalili, Adjoa Andoh, Gregory Porter, Martin Clunes, Keala Settle, Alan Titchmarsh and Katherine Jenkins.

The Household Cavalry Musical Ride will also be performing a special choreographed routine whilst Grammy Award winning Gregory Porter is set to sing Revival.
