Virginia’s lawyer hits back at Andrew’s ‘false memory’ defence saying ‘you don’t misremember sex abuse by a prince’

VIRGINIA Roberts Giuffre’s lawyer has blasted Prince Andrew’s “false memories” claim by saying “you don’t misremember sex abuse by a prince”.

In a civil suit, Ms Giuffre alleges she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York, 61, three times when she was 17.

The Duke is facing a lawsuit filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre as a ‘private citizen’

But after a judge throw out Andrew’s bid to have the case dismissed, his lawyers have accused Ms Giuffre, now 38, of recruiting girls for paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and “suffering from false memories” over her alleged encounters with the royal.

They have requested to talk to Dr Judith Lightfoot over Ms Giuffre’s claims to have suffered “severe emotional distress and psychological harm” as a result of her alleged ordeal.

Andrew has always strongly denied all allegations made against him.

Court documents show his lawyers also want to examine Dr Lightfoot’s medical notes from her sessions with Ms Giuffre.

His legal team state that Andrew “contends that (Ms Giuffre) may suffer from false memories, as evidenced by the fact that her claims regarding her time with Epstein and the circumstances under which (Andrew) allegedly assaulted her have repeatedly changed over the years”.

But in a cutting response to Andrew’s accusation of “false memories”, Ms Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies told the Mail: “People may misremember a lot of things, but they don’t misremember sexual abuse by a prince of England.

“This is exactly what Maxwell tried. It didn’t end well.”

During her sex-trafficking trial, Ghislaine Maxwell attempted to use a so-called false memory expert in a bid to get her off the hook.

She was, however, found guilty on five of six counts of recruiting young girls for Epstein’s vile paedophile ring.

Documents lodged with the New York court by Andrew’s lawyer also accuse Ms Giuffre of helping recruit underage girls for disgraced financier Epstein.

Andrew alleges Ms Giuffre’s claims are “an effort to deflect from her own participation in Epstein’s sex-trafficking scheme, including by recruiting young women (including at least one 14-year-old girl) to become sexual partners for Epstein”.

The duke –  who has now lost his royal and military titles and is fighting the case “private citizen” – has also been blasted as “tone deaf” for his “false memories” strategy.

Brad Edwards, a Florida lawyer who represents many of Epstein’s victims, told the Sunday Times: “Taking another play out of the Epstein/Maxwell book and attacking Virginia is probably the only thing he can do to look worse.

“I’d say his defence can’t get worse, but last time I thought that he went on TV and gave what amounted to the most embarrassingly stupid interview of all time.”

During his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019, Andrew claimed he had never met Ms Giuffre, suggesting a photo of the pair together from 2001 had been faked.

It comes after the Queen made the decision to strip Andrew of his HRH title on Wednesday after a meeting with Charles and the Duke of Cambridge.

‘DESTROY HIM’

The bombshell decision was made after New York judge Lewis Kaplan ruled Andrew must face a civil trial on allegations he sexually abused Ms Giuffre.

Andrew will now have to face his trial as an “ordinary citizen” – but it’s reported he will not lose his £300,000-a-year security detail after he was stripped of his titles

The duke is seeking an out-of-court settlement for Ms Giuffre. It could be up to £10million — the amount he will get from selling his chalet in Verbier, Switzerland.

Ms Giuffre claims she was enticed by the Duke of York’s pal Maxwell and lured into paedo Epstein’s sick sexual pyramid scheme.

She alleges she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions – in London, New York and on Epstein’s island Little St James.

According to a source, Ms Giuffre has vowed to “destroy him” and leave him broke.

Meanwhile, an ex-royal cop has revealed he suspected that Andrew and Maxwell were lovers — because she came and went from Buckingham Palace “at will”.

Former bodyguard Paul Page claims in an ITV programme — Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile — that the shamed ex-socialite visited up to four times in one day.
