THE QUEEN’s coffin arrived at Buckingham Palace on the night of Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from Edinburgh, Scotland.
On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, it will make its way through a procession to Westminster Hall where the Queen will lay in state before her funeral on Monday, September 19.
What is the route of the Queen’s coffin procession?
The Queen’s coffin procession will take 38 minutes.
The procession is set to take the following route:
- Leave from Buckingham Palace
- The Mall
- Horse Guards Road
- Horse Guards Parade
- Whitehall
- Parliament Square
- Ends at the Palace of Westminster
Viewing areas will be set up along the route so that the public can also pay its respect to Her Majesty.
The Queen’s coffin will be transported from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall in a ceremonial procession
You can view the ceremonial procession from:
- Green Park side of The Mall
- St James’ Park side of the Mall and Horse Guards Road
- Horse Guards Parade ground
- Whitehall (West)
- Parliament Street (West)
- Great George Street
- Whitehall (East)
- Parliament Street (East)
- Bridge Street
You can find a place in the viewing areas from 11am on Wednesday but there will be limited capacity.
Guidance warned: “Please do not wait or camp in advance of the processional day.
“If you camp before this time you may be asked to move on.”
There will also be a screening site at Hyde Park showing the ceremonial procession on large screens.
This also commences at 11am.
It is recommended that people enter from the north side of Hyde Park, from Marlborough Gate to Marble Arch.
It’s recommended that the public thinks ahead of travelling.
Guidance said: “Please be aware that large crowds are expected, and there are likely to be delays on public transport and road closures around the area.”
Security will be at all sites and no alcohol consumption will be allowed.
On the other hand, the public can consumer food and drink, which can also be brought from concession stands on sites.
Public toilets will also be placed around the areas.

The ceremonial procession will see the longest-serving monarch’s coffin transported from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where it will be available for the public to see.
Who will be a part of the Queen’s coffin procession?
King Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and other members of the Royal family will be walking behind the Queen’s coffin.
Those walking behind the coffin also include the King’s three siblings – Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
Camilla, Queen Consort, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will be travelling by car.
