THE QUEEN’S youngest son Prince Andrew separated from wife and mother of his two daughters Sarah Ferguson in March 1992.
However, just five months later the relationship was rocked with scandal when Fergie was pictured in some compromising snaps with Texan millionaire John Bryan.
Scandal rocked the royal family when Sarah Ferguson was pictured on holiday with American businessman John Bryan
When the photographs were published, Sarah was staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland with the rest of the royal family.
Royal writer Richard Kay claimed in the Daily Mail that Princess Diana messaged him the night before the pictures leaked saying: “The redhead’s in trouble.”
Who is John Bryan?
Sarah’s fling was with American businessman and “financial advisor” John Bryan, and the pair were said to have met through mutual friends.
Not much is known about the liaison, other than the fact they enjoyed a romantic break together in Saint Tropez, along with Sarah’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.
More on the royal family
When Fergie and Andrew formally divorced in 1996, John had filed for bankruptcy after owing tens of thousands to creditors.
According to the Daily Mail, John later wed 22-year-old Belgian model and musician Astrid Nuyens, who went on to become a reality TV star.
When was he pictured with Sarah, Duchess of York?
The images were published in August 1922, and showed the couple lazing by a pool in the south of France.
In the snaps, John was seen kissing and “sucking” Fergie’s toes and embracing the former wife of Prince Andrew.
According to Kay, John told him: “I wasn’t sucking her toes, I was kissing them!”
The couple were also seen kissing in the pool and chatting on loungers, with Sarah soaking up the sun topless.
In one shot, Princess Eugenie, then aged two, watched as John kissed her mum.
