A Place in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman stunned by couple’s very ‘cheeky’ stunt – and it doesn’t go to plan

A PLACE in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman was left stunned by a couple’s very “cheeky” offer as they searched for their dream holiday home.

The Channel 4 host met with retired couple Pauline and Peter as they searched for a property in Lanzarote to share with their 15 grandchildren.

Jasmine was left shocked by the couple’s “cheeky” offer

Peter and Pauline offered the villa owner £50,000 less than the asking price

Jasmine, 45, got to work looking for a spacious holiday home to fit Pauline and Peter’s list of needs within a modest budget of £350,000.

The couple, who met in Lanzarote and spend seven months of the year there, were hoping to stay there permanently if they found the right place.

Their list of demands included a minimum of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private pool – as well as outdoor space.

Jasmine began by taking them to a semi-detached villa, which was over budget by £10,000 but met all of their demands.

Sadly, the couple were not immediately as Pauline told the expert that the home was “OK” as they insisted they wanted a detached property.

But they admitted they loved the large size of the rooms, especially the living room which had enough space for “an extra apartment”.

The second home also didn’t match up to expectations as Pauline and Peter felt that the master bedroom was too small for them.

The third property – which was below budget at £330,000 – came with a private pool, but similarly left them unimpressed.

Pauline pointed out how “outdated” it looked compared to the first property, which was becoming “difficult to beat”.

After viewing two more villas, Pauline and Peter were still keen to put in an offer on the first villa and try their luck.

But Jasmine was left shocked when the couple cheekily suggested that they would offer £50,000 less than the asking price.

“We want to make a cheeky offer,” Peter said, to which a shocked Jasmine quickly replied: “Oh, how cheeky?”

“£315,000,” Peter replied. “I know that is a significant amount of money less than being asked by let’s use that as the starting point.”

Jasmine put in the offer to the agents, who quickly came back that it had been rejected by the current owner of the property.

The couple negotiated back and forth with the owner until they came to an agreement – settling at a price of £349,000.
