A Place in the Sun’s Laura Hamilton forced to apologise for post about property hunters after fan backlash

A Place in the Sun’s Laura Hamilton has been forced to apologise for a post about property hunters.

The 39-year-old posted a video on social media about the house hunters she’s been working with for the Channel 4 show this week, which received a backlash from fans.

A Place in the Sun’s Laura Hamilton apologises after fan backlash

Laura, who has presented A Place in the Sun since 2012, was in the sunny Benalmádena in southern Costa Del Sol, when she addressed the criticism on Instagram.

The host began: “I posted a story to say that we were in Fuengirola, and this week’s property search has been quite tough because we have a limited budget of £80,000.

“Now if anyone knows property prices on the Costa del Sol, they will know £80,000 is a difficult budget.”

She also explained that the househunters are aware of challenges surrounding their budget and the sort of the properties they may be able to purchase as a result.

Hamilton went on: “Someone sent me a message and told me I wasn’t very nice to be telling people that it’s a small budget.

Laura was criticised for her remarks about the househunter’s financial limitations.

“So I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but I didn’t say anything that isn’t true and my house hunters aren’t at all offended.”

She ended her video by saying: “In fact, they are very happy with what we’ve shown them and we’re about to do the final chat.”

Earlier this month, Laura opened up on the abuse from trolls on social media that caused her to suffer a panic attack earlier this year.

The TV star’s husband was forced to call an ambulance when she couldn’t breathe after reading keyboard warriors’ vile messages about her family’s café, Lord Roberts On The Green.

Laura has refused to be bullied off social media following the traumatic incident but has found a way to cope with negative comments.

“I try not to read too many of the comments (on Instagram), but I do like to respond to people if they’re like ‘where is your dress from?’,” she told The Celeb Report.

“Everyone likes to hear a nice compliment. If you’re out on the street and someone says ‘I like your dress’, of course it makes you feel good.

“Everyone wants to read nice things rather than negative things.”
