Where is A Very British Scandal filmed?

A BBC statement stated filming took place ‘all across the UK’ but mainly Scotland and London.

Scotland

Writer Sarah Phelps confirmed that a major bulk of the filming of the series was  carried out at Inveraray Castle, this is where the Duke and Duchess of Argyll actually lived together.

The castle sits close to Loch Fyne in the Scottish highlands, which makes a breathtaking backdrop for the drama.

The 15th-century castle was also featured in Downton Abbey.

London

Many hotels in London were used to film the BBC drama.

The classic London ballroom in London’s Crofton Park was used for some of the scenes where the action takes place on a night out.

For the meeting between Campbell and Margaret’s parents at The Dorchester Hotel, filming took place at The Sheraton Grand on Park Lane, making use of its 1920s Art Deco furnishings.

The filming location for Claridges was instead done at Art Deco-styled The Sheraton Grand on Park Lane and Luton Hoo Estate in Bedfordshire.

Kent

An early scene in the series shows a meeting between the future duke and duchess which takes place on a boat train – the Golden Arrow.

They actually used the Golden Arrow which is now a part of the Bluebell Railway steam train experience.

The filming for this scene was actually filmed in Tenterden in Kent.
