Adam Barlow found out his wife Sarah Platt was pregnant
But he’s well aware Damon Hay could be the father of the unborn baby
The solicitor took action to get rid of Damon completely – but the crime haunts him
Adam (played by Sam Robertson) was given one bombshell after another in recent scenes of the ITV soap.
The solicitor’s dream of a baby of his own with wife Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) appeared to become a reality when she revealed she was pregnant.
Unfortunately, she also admitted she had no idea who the father could be after her affair with Damon Hay.
Determined to get Damon out of their lives for good, Adam turned to Niall, a notorious Weatherfield gangster, and told him his rival was planning on grassing him up to the police.
Damon fled the cobbles out of fear for his life but not before he left Sarah one last message.
Coming up next week, Adam is terrified that his evil plan may have worked when Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) shows him the Gazette by stating one of the brothers Damon was involved with had been arrested for the murder of a local gangster.
Adam pales, worried the victim might be Damon and his fear leads him to take desperate action.
With her career at the Underworld factory flourishing, Sarah is thrilled but her good mood is short-lived when, at home, she finds Adam scrolling through her phone.
A flustered Adam tells her he needs to know if she’s heard from Damon as he’s done something really stupid.
He confesses how he wanted Damon out of their lives and spoke to a dangerous gangster but now, Damon could be dead.
Soon after, Sarah tells Adam she’s bleeding and is scared of losing the baby.
In later scenes, she tries to broach the subject of the paternity test but Adam refuses to engage.
Confiding in Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Daniel surmises he’ll find it tough to insist on an abortion even if Damon’s the father.
Stressed, Adam snaps at him and hurries off to court but as he makes his client’s case, he starts to sweat, shake and lose focus before dashing from the courtroom.
Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) watches in alarm as Adam’s in the throes of a full-blown panic attack.
How can she help him?
Is Damon really gone for good?
A spokesperson for Coronation Street recently told Metro.co.uk that nothing is ever really set in stone in soapland.
“There’s definitely some unfinished business between Sarah and Damon, Adam would like to believe this is the end of Damon but whether it is or not remains to be seen.”
Will Damon make a surprise comeback to the cobbles?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
