AMERICA’s Got Talent: Extreme’s Jonathan Goodwin has been released from the hospital as he shared a selfie four months after he was nearly crushed to death in a terrible stunt accident.
Jonathan, 42, celebrated his birthday in an Instagram post as he was “finally out of the hospital.”
The America’s Got Talent star had grown a beard and covered his head with a blue beanie.
His fiancée, Amanda Abbington, 47, was cuddled up behind him as she rested her head on his shoulder.
The two were bundled up together under a colorful flower-themed shawl.
Jonathan captioned the post: “My birthday today. Can’t think of a better way to spend it than with my love.”
Back in October 2021, the Welsh stunt performer was practicing his latest stunt during a rehearsal for the NBC reality competition show.
In the video captured from the set, the daredevil artist was suspended in midair and dangling on a rope.
Two cars were suspended on either side of him.
In the stunt, the two cars were supposed to swing toward Jonathan as he was expected to jump up onto the rope and get out of the way.
When the rope suddenly snapped, the performer was slammed between the cars.
The vehicles ended up sandwiching him between them as they immediately burst into flames.
‘IN SERIOUS CONDITION’
The escape artist had to be airlifted to a local hospital.
The police spokesperson said at the time: “He suffered severe injuries to his legs and several lacerations, and was airlifted to Grady Hospital.
“He was transported in serious condition, but is currently alive, alert and well.”
As production on America’s Got Talent: Extreme halted, the accident became “under federal investigation.”
A spokesperson for the agency told The Celeb Report exclusively: “The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is aware of this incident and has opened an inspection.”
‘LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY’
Also that same month, the stuntman shared a snapshot from his hospital stay on Instagram.
In the photo, Jonathan raised his arm and showed how his entire hand had been bandaged up.
His face was scarred from the flames as he stuck his tongue out at the camera.
He captioned his lengthy post: “I have been to the very brink and dodged the worst that a human being can, without fear.
“Because I was protected by love. Love is all you need. So make sure you get some. Because it’s good s**t.”
He continued: “There is a long road to recovery and that won’t look like what it did.”
Jonathan concluded: “I have a lot left to do in this world. Maybe we can make something good together?”
