Alex Beresford breaks silence after Piers Morgan singled him out for being only GMB co-star to ignore him since exit

ALEX Beresford has broken his silence for the first time since Piers Morgan revealed “the real truth” about his Good Morning Britain exit.

The stand-in weatherman was singled out for being Piers’ only co-star not to contact him since he quit the show.

Piers Morgan and Alex Beresford haven’t spoken since their on-air row

The pair clashed on air the same day as Piers told ITV he would not be returning to front the breakfast show.

Earlier that day he had stormed off set when tensions boiled over in a debate with Alex about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday, Piers said: “I’ve had nice messages from all the other GMB presenters, apart from Alex Beresford, and many of the wonderful production team, from camera operators and producers to make-up artists.

“Some really moved me.”

Alex Beresford posted this snap on Instagram

Hours after his explosive tell-all story was published, Alex uploaded a snap of himself on Instagram at home – and ignored Piers’ dig.

He wrote: “Probably shouldn’t have my trainers on this white rug! Anyway bless up yourselves on what looks like a grey Sunday.

“Remember the sun still rises and sets so beautifully some place in the world everyday.”

Piers had a heart to heart with Susanna Reid on the phone

Weatherman Alex, 40, criticised Piers for making negative comments about Meghan and claimed it was because she ghosted him years earlier.

Earlier in the column Piers appeared to take a dig at Alex, referring to him only as ‘GMB’s occasional stand in weatherman’.

He explained that he was furious a member of his own team had called him out on air and noted he had “gone out of his way” in the past to give Alex career advice.

During their televised spat, Alex said: “This is pathetic. Absolutely diabolical behaviour.

“I’m sorry but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit here and listen. From 6.30 to 7am yesterday, it was incredibly hard to watch.

“He has the ability to come in here and talk from a position that he doesn’t fully understand…”

On reflection, Piers said he regretted leaving the studio and had only done so to prevent him saying something he shouldn’t.
