She captioned the post: “And that is a wrap till the end of August.”

It followed the duo’s announcement on Wednesday’s edition that loyal viewers won’t get their daily fix.

It comes as the show makes way for coverage of the Commonwealth Games, which gets underway on Thursday.

The pair were joined on the show by Lenny Henry and Tom Daley in Birmingham, as the city gets ready to host the huge sporting event.

As Alex and Jermaine closed the latest edition of the popular weekday show, Alex told viewers they were taking a “summer break” until the end of August.

She continued to say: “Stay safe and have a lovely summer.”

The closing segment was also shared across the show’s social media pages, with a number of Twitter users telling the pair to enjoy their break.

One user wrote: “Have a great holiday guys,” while another penned: “Yes have a wonderful summer and enjoy.”

News of the break comes after Welsh beauty Alex recently opened up on Instagram about the “challenging” times she had been facing at home.

She admitted earlier in the week that she’s going through “a tricky and challenging patch in her life”.

The presenter, who is mum to Teddy, Annie and Kit with husband Charlie Thompson, shared a snap of a lemon and thanked her followers for the kind messages she had received.

Celebrity pals also commented as Good Morning Britain‘s Charlotte Hawkins wrote: “Hope all OK, sending love,”

While Izzy Judd added: “Sending love,” followed by an array of red love heart emojis.

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
