Devoted single mum Alison has worked hard to provide for her teen son over the years but acknowledged there have been times when it’s kept her from home.

She said: “I’ve got my son here today, you know, with this, with working in television and stuff comes sacrifices, you know, I haven’t always been been there for my son, so this is a wonderful recognition, and I’m so honoured that the BAFTA’s nominated me really.”

Alison missed out to Big Zuu in the Entertainment Performance category, but appreciated being recognised.

She said: “It’s a lovely nomination, I say it all the time though, no one should be defined by awards and things like that, but it’s nice to be recognised isn’t it?

“You know, I’ve been in the industry 20 years now, so to be recognised, just to be nominated is an absolute pleasure.

“You know, there’s been a lot of graft.”

Alison looked incredible at the star-studded event.

She shimmered on the red carpet as she posed for photographers in a sequin cape.

The 47-year-old has won a legion of fans since she first appeared on our screens on Big Brother 3 in 2002, and now brings plenty of laughter to Fridays on This Morning, which she co-hosts alongside Dermot O’Leary.

Alison became upset about her size during a This Morning phone in last month, but she insists she is not ashamed of her appearance.

She recently said: “Sometimes I look at myself and go wow, I am a big girl!

“I kind of like taking up a little bit of space, I’m OK with it. I take a little bit more extra space in the world and I don’t think I’m hurting anyone.

“None of us are getting out of this. We’re all gonna die eventually, I might die a little bit sooner, but you know what, I’m gonna live my life to the fullest.

“And if I do die soon, I’m going to have fantastic life.”
