ALISON Hammond has been slammed by her fans for an “out of touch” new TV show amid the cost of living crisis.
The This Morning star took to Twitter to reveal her new show, titled Alison Hammond: In at the Rich End yesterday.
Alison headed to the French Riviera for the programme
Not everyone was a fan of the new glam programme
Alison, 47, could be seen looking glamorous in a red dress as she advertised the one-off special on ITV.
The programme, which aired at 9pm last night, saw Alison travel across the French Riviera – which is one of the most expensive places to live on the planet.
Advertising the programme on her social media, Alison could be seen posing for a photo in one of the towns.
She glammed up with a full face of make-up and pulled her hair into a neat bun, as she smiled wide towards the camera.
However, not everyone was happy about the programme, with some taking to the comments to slam the show.
Many hit out that the programme was “out of touch” and “tasteless” due to the ongoing cost of living crisis.
“As much as I love you Alison, I wonder if there is an appetite for this while we’re all going through the hardest of times?” one penned under her tweet.
“Normally I’d watch this but it just doesn’t feel right now.”
Another chimed in: “Extremely insensitive timing when endless people in the UK cannot afford to heat or eat…”
“Sorry had to stop watching. I feel it’s totally inappropriate and tone deaf as to the state of the economy,” a third said.
While a fourth hit out: “No offence to you Alison, but a program like this is totally insensitive with what a lot of people are going through with cost of living.”
“Not really the thing to be showing when so many people are struggling, tasteless at this time of year,” a fifth concluded.
Despite the backlash, elsewhere, Alison left her viewers in hysterics with a cheeky question to a $5.5billion heiress.
As part of her trip, the This Morning star met up for lunch with billionaire film producer Lady Monika Barcardi.
As well as her work in the film producing industry, she is also the heiress to the Barcardi drinks fortune making her worth a sizzling $5.5 billion.
Lady Monika is one of Monaco’s 200 billionaires and enjoys a life of luxury but despite that Alison was keen to ask the truly important questions.
Alison started by asking the star: “Monika, if I said tomorrow, when you wake up, all your wealth is gonna be gone, how do you think you’d cope, would you be ok?”
Monika humbly replied: “The thing is, in a blink, everything can change. So, let’s just have happy moments.”
Without further ado, Alison was onto her next question: “Have you ever been in like, a B&M or a Poundland?”
In a moment that shocked nobody, Monika confirmed she had never heard of such a place and as such Alison did her best to explain about the British high street staples.
Alison remarked: “It’s like, a really cheap shop, where you can get vases like this, candles…”
Whilst Monika had not been to the aforementioned stores she did admit to having shopped cheaply and confirmed she enjoys a discount store, saying: “I even go now.”
