Amy and her dad Mitch
The series will explore the musical legend’s struggle with her demons, her romantic and family relationships – including with dad Mitch – and her talent.
It will be based on the bestselling book Saving Amy, which was written by author and film-maker Daphne Barak.
Halcyon Studio have since bought out the rights for the book in the hopes to make it a scripted TV series.
The British singer songwriter was well-known for her hits including Back to Black and Valerie.
Before her life spiralled out of control, Amy was classed as a musical genius – but her behaviour continued to threaten her career as she took multiple trips to rehab.
In a bid to create her third album away from temptations, Amy spent eight months on a Caribbean island in 2009 where she wrote songs and recorded them – the album was sadly never released.
Amy’s last concert was just one month before she passed away.
She was due to tour around Europe but was slammed for being ‘too drunk to sing’ at her concert in Serbia.
Halcyon Studio chief executive, David Ellender, said: “Although her career was cut far too short, Amy was the voice of a generation and we look forward to telling her story in the most poignant way possible.”
