Angela Black viewers brand ITV drama ‘utter codswallop’ after third episode’s shocking twist

ANGELA Black viewers were left fuming after a shocking twist at the end of the third episode.

Starring Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt as Angela, the six-part series follows her seemingly idyllic family life – but where darkness lurks behind closed doors.

The midway point of ITV’s Angela Black drama has divided viewers

Many viewers have been brought to tears watching the brutal violence against Angela at the hands of ‘charming, hard-working’ husband – Olivier (Michael Huisman).

Angela and Olivier live in suburban London, where she spends her days working volunteer shifts at a dogs home and they have two beautiful sons.

However, beneath this façade of charmed domesticity, Angela is a victim of domestic violence because Olivier is controlling and brutal.

One day, Angela is approached by Ed (Samuel Adewunmi) – a private investigator – and he smashes her already strained domestic life to pieces.

The third episode saw Ed and Angela plot to murder Olivier in the most dramatic circumstances.

Angela follows the plans and turns up to a neighbour’s house in feigned hysterics and asks to use the phone as an alibi.

In the meantime she’s left the front door to her house open, so Ed can go in and kill her husband.

But the end of the episode revealed Olivier unscathed and Angela sitting in a jail cell after the police arrested her with her husband’s guns in her hands.

She’s then sectioned under the Mental Health Act after the police told her that Ed does not exist and it’s all in her head.

But ITV viewers were not keen on the shocking twist and vowed to tune out of the drama.

“Thanks for nothing and Bye!! Complete codswallop. I’m done,” wrote one angry fan on Twitter.

Another added: “What a load of utter codswallop.”

But many fans also loved the shocking episode finale and begged for more.

“What a twist,” one fan commented on Twitter.

A second wrote: “Was that a set up? Are Ed and Olivier working together to make Angela look insane? Omg, i can’t handle this.”

And a third added: “How many more episodes are there? It’s shaving years off me this.”
