Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway has been hit with a slew of Ofcom complaints
The ITV favourite returned for a new series last weekend
The Saturday Night Takeaway show banter came as the man’s wife Amy was expecting their baby.
Ofcom has now confirmed to The Celeb Report there were a total of 111 complaints made.
The broadcasting watchdog stated: “Complaints related to the series of pranks played on a husband throughout his wife’s pregnancy.”
It came as unsuspecting Liam was set up by his wife Amy, who was pregnant at the time, and was taken to a completely fake 4D scan, fake ante natal class and even a false family photoshoot once their son was born.
During the scan, Liam was shown a baby that wasn’t his who proceeded to wave, pull the rock sign and even play hide and seek.
As the pranks were revealed as SNT returned for a new series, those watching at home took to Twitter to complain.
One person commented: “This is cruel lmao.”
A second said: “This isn’t really very funny messing with a first time Dad’s scan experience.”
While a third commented: “I think the pregnancy prank of a fake baby scan on #SaturdayNightTakeaway isn’t funny.”
“Bit harsh the guy’s thinking he’s seeing the face of his child for the first time and ant and Dec are like not even his baby,” added a fourth.
Ant and Dec later surprised them by revealing they had set up a savings account for the baby – with a huge £18,000 in it.
