Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges
Artem Chigvintsev, ex-Strictly star and current Dancing With The Stars competitor, has been accused of threatening a former celebrity dance partner with death years before his recent domestic violence arrest in California. The Russian dancer, 42, was taken in on domestic battery charges and released on bail after officers allegedly observed injuries at the scene.
Allegations from Former Partner
His former Strictly partner, Fern Britton, revealed that Chigvintsev once told her to leave rehearsals or he would kill her. Despite moments of getting along, Fern described him as lacking charm and shared unsettling details of their time together on the show.
Success and Controversy
Chigvintsev, who won Strictly with actress Kara Tointon and later found fame in the US, has appeared in multiple seasons of Dancing With The Stars. He met his wife, WWE Hall of Famer Nicole Garcia, on the show and the couple married in Paris in 2022. They have a son named Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev.
Protecting Their Son from the Spotlight
Garcia and Chigvintsev have been cautious about exposing their son to the reality TV world, expressing their desire for Matteo to decide for himself in the future whether he wants to be in the public eye.
