Controversial Plans Given Green Light

ADOLESCENCE star Ashley Walters has been given approval for a controversial swimming pool and gym despite objections from neighbours.

The actor, known for his role in the Netflix show Adolescence, faced opposition from locals near Herne Bay, Kent, over his plans for a detached outbuilding at his home.

Planners Approve the Proposal

Walters applied for a single-storey detached outbuilding to house a pool, gym, games room, and changing facilities, which sparked objections on grounds such as being out of character in a rural area.

However, Kent County Council planners gave Walters the green light, citing the need to extend the chalet bungalow for his growing children as a reason for approval.

Previous Planning Success for Walters

This marks the second planning victory for Walters, who also starred in Top Boy and was a member of the So Solid Crew. Last year, he obtained permission for a two-storey front and rear extension at the same property.

Neighbour Objections and Responses

Despite objections from neighbours regarding the outbuilding's size and impact on the area, planning officials stated that the proposed development would not have an adverse effect on the streetscape or landscape.

Walters, 42, expressed a willingness to move if unable to extend his home as desired, emphasizing his family's attachment to the area and their desire to find a suitable local alternative if needed.

Future Plans for the Home

Speaking about the extension plans, Walters highlighted the importance of accommodating his children's growth by raising the height of the bungalow conversion to avoid ceiling constraints.
