Awkward moment GMB star is rejected from Elton John’s star-studded Oscars party live on air

GOOD Morning Britain’s Noel Phillips suffered an awkward moment live on air today when he was refused entry to Sir Elton John’s star-studded Oscars party.

The show’s US correspondent was in Tinseltown for the biggest night in the film calendar and certainly looked the part in a pristine white suit with black bow tie.

But his smooth style only got him so far, and that wasn’t beyond security at Elton’s annual bash.

While speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, who were back in the London studio, Noel attempted to walk into the party with his cameraman in tow.

It shouldn’t have been an issue, given Noel had interviewed the Rocket Man himself prior to the event, but the doorman was clearly unaware.

He said: “We’re going to try and see if we can get into the party. Apparently Emma Watson and Donatella Versace and a few famous people are in there. Lets see if we can gatecrash the party.”

As he approached the entrance, the security guard held up his hand and said: “Sir, the party is over. No entry, please.”

Thinking fast, Noel said: “Oh, but Elton said we can come in?”

Smiling, the guard said: “No, you can’t.”

Noel turned on his heels and said: “We did try, guys. We did try.”

Susanna then chipped in: “Looks like someone’s about to close the curtains behind you there, Noel. What a shame. You did your best.”

Everything Everywhere All At Once was the big winner in the Oscars ceremony itself with seven awards including Best Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, 60.

The actress, who is the first South East Asian to win the award, said: “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight this is a beacon of hope and possibility.”

She added: “Ladies don’t ever let anyone tell you you are past your prime.”

Brendan Fraser took home Best Actor for his incredible performance as a morbidly obese man in The Whale, while Jamie Lee Curtis became first time Oscar winner at 64 when she bagged Best Supporting Actress.
