GREAT British Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington has revealed she almost never applied for the show because of mental health issues.
The 31-year-old digital manager was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder seven years ago and has been on medication for the past five.
And she feared how social media trolls would deal with a “bigger girl”.
Laura, of Gravesend, Kent, said her worst moment on the show was her Freddie Mercury cake.
She said: “Obviously, at the time, I was distraught. I’d perfected Freddie.
“I’d done him six or seven times, and I’d got it perfect. Then, on the day, everything went wrong.
“They didn’t show it on TV, but I went outside and just sobbed.
“I thought I was out of the competition on week one. It seemed a disaster.”
Series winner was 20-year-old Edinburgh student Peter Sawkins.
