Bake Off star mortified as show bosses call him out for wearing VERY rude badge

THE Great British Bake Off 2019 winner David Atherton has revealed he once played a prank on producers with a very cheeky and R-rated badge.

David won GBBO three years ago and while starring on the show famous for its naughty innuendoes he also couldn’t help but get involved until Channel 4 bosses pulled the plug on his joke.

David Atherton revealed the joke on his Twitter account three years after winning

The star revealed on his Twitter this week to his 28,500 followers that he pushed the boundaries further by turning up to the tent wearing a NSFW badge that he tried to sneak onto the show.

Walking into the famous tent, David recalled how he was stopped almost immediately after a producer caught on that he was wearing a yellow badge which read: “I love anal.”

Taking to Twitter, he shared an innocent looking snap of him posing with fellow co-star Michelle Evan-Fecci.

Once fans looked closely at the photograph they were amused to see the yellow badge sitting on his navy shirt.

David recalled how the pic was snapped by co-star Michael Chakraverty as he tweeted about the memory.

He wrote: “Just remembering the time I tried to get away with wearing this badge on Bake Off.

“I got it into the tent but then it was spotted.”

David was told to remove the badge pretty quickly after entering the famous tent

Within 24 hours fans went wild for the tweet as it gained over 49,000 likes and almost 2,000 retweets.

After Michael replied to the tweet to jokingly ask for his credit for taking the picture David revealed how Michael was also breaking the rules.

David tweeted back to his co-star and pal: “This is true, you were the illegal photographer. Getting a phone into the tent basically means you could be a spy.”

Twitter users were quick to get in on the banter and rushed to reply with their witty comebacks.

One tweeted in response: “And they wouldn’t let you wear it…” followed by a gif that read: “Ah… that’s homophobic.”

“Soggy bottom,” another replied followed by a laughing emoji.

Another fan shared a similar embarrassing encounter they had, writing: “I went to school talent show for my 7 year old nephew and didn’t realize I was wearing a shirt that said “f*ck buddy” on the front. It was embarrassing.”

Others did not find the joke so funny. One commented: “Because that would be an appropriate thing to wear on a tv show watched by children.”

Another said: “Would have been a fun chat with my ten year old. Cheers.”
