The End of Project Icon
The BBC has made the decision to cancel the reality TV show Project Icon after just one series. The music talent competition, created by Jason Derulo, featured A-list judges and aimed to discover the ultimate artist.
Unearthing New Talent
Project Icon brought together ten unsigned artists who competed against each other in a series of challenges. The show aimed to transform these local bedroom singers into polished recording artists, testing their abilities and giving them the chance to perform on iconic stages.
Axing the Show
Despite unearthing some brilliant talent, the BBC has no plans to continue with the series. A spokesperson for the broadcaster expressed their delight in being a part of winner Dylan's music journey and wished him luck in his future endeavors. They also thanked the entire team for bringing the series to screen and discovering top tier talent.
What the Winner Gets
The winner of Project Icon not only secured a record deal with Jason Derulo's label Future History but also had the opportunity to collaborate with Derulo on a track and perform at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend.
An Engaging Series
Project Icon captivated viewers with its industry-inspired challenges, including creating viral social media videos and completing tricky press interviews. The show was hosted by former I'm A Celebrity star Jordan North and featured music mogul Frank Harris as one of the judges.
Where to Watch
Although the series has been cancelled, viewers can still watch Project Icon on BBC's iPlayer.
