One Dalek bursts into BBC Breakfast studio demanding to know the whereabouts of The Doctor
Viewers of BBC Breakfast were taken by surprise this morning when a Dalek from the popular TV show Doctor Who 'invaded' the studio. The Dalek demanded that presenters Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty reveal the location of The Doctor, saying "Where is The Doctor? Speak, locate, exterminate!"
Multiple Daleks take over the news show
The Dalek was soon joined by two more of its kind, marking the beginning of Doctor Who's 60th anniversary celebrations. The Daleks then proceeded to take over the show, replacing their usual "Exterminate! Exterminate!" catchphrase with "Obey! Obey! Obey the Daleks!"
Presenters react with a mix of shock and humor
As the programme cut to regional reports, the presenters reacted in various ways. Some were visibly shocked, while others came up with witty responses. BBC Scotland presenter Sarah McMullan looked shocked before welcoming viewers to the programme, while Eleanor Moritz of North West Today simply nodded in acknowledgement of the studio "invasion."
Regional presenters offer entertaining responses
Some of the regional presenters offered more light-hearted reactions. One presenter from the East Midlands said, "Well, you can't say no to that," before moving on to the news. The South Today host simply noted, "Well, that was unusual," while the presenter of Midlands Today was left stunned, asking, "Well, how do you follow that?"
Viewers find the scenes hilarious
Viewers at home found the Dalek invasion scene hilarious and took to social media to discuss it. One viewer declared joint winners for Look North and Spotlight, while another mentioned being amused by the presenter's look on North West Today. A third viewer pondered how the presenters resisted saying, "I for one welcome our new overlords."
Doctor Who's 60th anniversary special
The Dalek invasion comes ahead of the three-part special of Doctor Who, which will begin airing on Friday, November 25. The special will see David Tennant reprising his role as the Fourteenth Doctor, alongside his former companion Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate. The upcoming special will lead into Ncuti Gatwa taking over the role of the Fifteenth Doctor at Christmas.
Excitement builds for Doctor Who's return
Showrunner Russell T Davies teased fans about what lies ahead, promising more surprises and a year of speculation before "all hell lets loose." In anticipation of the special, over 800 hours of classic Doctor Who episodes were made available to stream on iPlayer.
