John Watson was back on the BBC Breakfast sofa this morning just days after his hospital dash
John shared a snap of his bandaged leg last week
He shared a picture on Twitter of him lying in a hospital bed and wearing a gown, with a bandage on his leg.
“Less of a dash more of a hop to the studio come Monday,” he said.
The journalist revealed he had torn his meniscus, damaging the cartilage between the bones in his knee.
However, John was back on the BBC Breakfast sofa today, much to the surprise of hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent.
“John’s here with the sport this morning,” said Jon, 53, “More mobile than I was expecting! I thought you were going to be struggling after your op.”
John replied: “Back to it, back to it.”
Sally, 51, joked: “Are we starting with John’s injury?” to which Jon added: “Yeah injury update!”
However John kept things professional and got straight on with discussing Luca Brecel’s win in the World Snooker Championship.
John’s injury typically happens when the knee twists while playing sport resulting in pain, stiffness and swelling.
After he posted the picture from hospital, fans rushed to wish John well – including his co-star Jon.
Referring to the fact he had accidentally worn his wife’s socks under his suit one day that week, he humorously said: “Take care, John. I’ve got a glittery sock for the other foot if you need it.”
Jon Kay and Sally Nugent couldn’t believe how quickly Jon was back on the programme
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
