This morning Rachel and Ben discussed the night which saw the UK earn just 24 points for ‘I Wrote a Song’.

Rachel said: “I just don’t think it was a song build for that Eurovision stage in the end.”

Ben also agreed that the song didn’t stand out against the other acts, despite it being featured last in the running order.

“There were a lot of similar sort of acts as well. Really good powerful songs from great female singers,” he added.

Eurovision juries gave the song 15 points.

The public awarded Mae nine and she ended the night in 25th place, out of 26.

Despite being heartbroken by the result, the singer has since spoken out about last night giving love and congratulations to every country that took part in the 2023 contest.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “I just want to say thank u x.

“I know i joke a lot but we really put our all into the last few months, not the result we hoped for but so proud of everyone & what we achieved on this journey.

“Congrats to all the countries, I’ll never forget this journey and I love you all.”

Hundreds of fans responded to tell the star how proud they were of her.

One fan wrote: “It wasn’t your year Mae. But you did your best and that’s all anyone could ask for. Well done.”

Another penned: “We’re so proud Mae. Thank you for being an incredible representative for the UK.”

“You’re still a winner to me,” a third said.
