BBC Breakfast viewers call out glaring blunder during live report from Istanbul

BBC Breakfast viewers have called out a glaring blunder during a live report from Istanbul.

Presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were on the red sofa today, and in the last 15 minutes of the show, they crossed via video to Istanbul to speak to Tom Bateman.

BBC Breakfast suffered a blunder during a live link up with Tom Bateman in Istanbul today

There was a typo in the city’s name when the camera split between Tom and Jon Kay in the studio

The Middle East correspondent was in the Turkish city to report on the latest round of talks between Ukraine and Russia.

But as the screen split to Jon in the studio on one side, and Tom on the other in Istanbul, viewers noticed a glaring typo underneath.

The graphic under Tom said ‘Isbanbul’ and one eagle-eyed viewer tweeted: “I’ve always wanted to visit Isbanbul #BBCBreakfast #isbanbul #İstanbul.”

When the camera cut straight in to Tom in the city, the title was correct next to the ‘live’ graphic.

BBC Breakfast pulled off air causing panic as fire alarm sounds

Elsewhere in today’s programme, Jon and Sally left viewers baffled by their ’embarrassing’ rave moves.

Viewers got a shock when the cameras returned to the studio after a weather forecast to find it in semi-darkness aside from the two presenters holding glow sticks.

As they explained how the next segment was about virtual reality raves and how it gave people the chance to step back into the 80s and 90s, Jon then started busting some moves.

Sally was impressed by his antics and said: “Jon look at your moves!”

However, she didn’t seem to have as much enthusiasm for dancing and wasn’t sure how to do ‘big fish, little fish, cardboard box’.

Jon showed her and said: “We’re clubbing, we are back in the 80s and 90s because if raving for you is…”

Sally then interrupted him by laughing before he asked: “Do I look cool?”

His co-star said he did before he joked he had put his back out with his gyrations and needed to sit down.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
