BBC Breakfast viewers distracted as report is interrupted by surprise onlooker

BBC Breakfast hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty were distracted by a surprise onlooker during a report on today’s show.

Co-star Mike Bushell’s cricket report live from Edgbaston, where England are taking on Australia in The Ashes, attracted a very cute guest.

From the studio, Charlie said: “Aw, there’s a little bird sitting on the fence behind you. He’s been listening to your every word, Mike. Can you see? On the fence behind you?”

The former Strictly star turned around to lay his eyes upon the little black and white bird on the pitch boundary.

He said: “Got a little friend here, have I? Oh, he’s down there. Look!”

Neither Charlie, Naga or Mike were sure what type of bird it was and asked viewers to help them out.

And they duly did in their droves.

Twitter was awash with viewers stating that it was a common pied wagtail.

Meanwhile, Naga, 48, looked typically stylish in a plain green dress for today’s show.

It was a departure from the denim shorts and vest she was pictured wearing earlier in the week as temperatures in the capital soared.

On a day off from the Breakfast’s famous red sofa, Naga was snapped walking down Regent Street.

Naga had her sunglasses on as she puffed on a cigarette during her walk.

In one shot, the BBC star was enjoying her nicotine fix next to a non-smoking sign.
