BBC Breakfast Presenter Charlie Stayt made a festive mistake with ‘Nana Baubles’.
Many TV viewers start their morning off by watching Charlie, 59, and Naga Munchetty, 46, on BBC Breakfast.
On Thursday morning’s show, fans will have noticed an awkward name blunder when Charlie introduced their festive guest and had to apologise live on TV.
Sat on iconic BBC red sofa the pair looked over at the studio screen where their Christmas expert zoomed in.
Nicknamed Nana Baubles, their guest was dressed in a red festive jump with a Christmas bauble necklace and multiple baubles hanging from her ceiling.
Naga started the festive segment off and said: “Perhaps you have been getting into the festive spirit over the past few days. Put up a few decorations, perhaps? Well, I think whatever you’ve done is going to be completely put into the shade?
“We are going to introduce you to Nana Baubles.”
Co-host Charlie then took the lead with: “Good morning Nana! Hello, Nana. We should introduce you properly, your real name is Sylvia Page, you’re in Swansea-“
The yuletide cheerleader was quick to interrupt him and cut him off from finishing his sentence with: “No, no, no! Sylvia Pope!”, and went on to spell our her surname for him.
Charlie laughed through the correction, saying: “Sorry! That was my mistake; you’re quite right and well done for putting me right!
“As always I’m getting things wrong and people are putting me right!”
Making sure to win over the offended nan, Charlie went on to say how impressed and amazed he was by the obscene amount of baubles visibly present in her home.
“Lovely to see you, and can I be the first to say – that’s a lot of baubles on your ceiling!” he said.
Swansea-based Sylvia described how she had just received the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Christmas baubles, with 1,760 dotted around her house.
“That’s not all I have – I’ve got them outside as well, on the front of the house!” Sylvia cheerful added.
The presenting duo cracked up on the sofa and giggled as the record holder said: “I’ve just got this attraction to baubles.”
“It takes me so long to put them up that I start in September,” she divulged.
Naga asked: “Will you be honest with me? Do you ever start putting them up, get a couple of hundred in and just think, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore’?”
Seasonal decorator Sylvia was quick to say: “No! No I don’t. I can’t wait to finish it, it’s just sometimes my body won’t allow me to do too many at once, so I just have to take my time.”
She went on to reveal that she has fallen off her ladder “a few times” while hanging up elaborate bauble displays.
She admitted that she had even broken a finger in the process.
