BBC Breakfast viewers were concerned over Dan’s absence from the show after Louise shared this snap inside the studio

Some viewers at home began speculating that Dan may have taken a step back from presenting duties for good following the announcement that he is set to star on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

More speculation ensued on Wednesday when Louise took to Twitter to share a selfie from inside the studio which sparked further questioning about Dan’s whereabouts.

Her caption read: “Good morning from #BBCBreakfast and Ben has just made it into my morning selfie. @BBCBenThompson.”

In response, one fan asked: “When is the lovely @mrdanwalker joining you again Louise? Or is he having time off to train for @bbcstrictly?”

Others also raced to express their concerns about Dan’s absence, prompting Louise to provide her followers with some reassurance.

“He will be back soon, don’t worry,” she wrote.

At this point, Dan also stepped in to explain his absence to viewers and give them some extra reassurance.

He quote tweeted the fan and wrote: “Back soon. Just spending time with the family,” before adding a thumbs up emoji.

Delighted fans flocked to share their joy at the news and wish Dan well on his upcoming appearance on Strictly.

One asked “Hi Dan. Is it still a rule that you have to create a bubble and isolate in a hotel with the strictly cast before the launch show or has that been relaxed this year?

“If so, of course, you want to spend time with your family!! Can’t wait to see you on the dance floor!!”

Another said: “Enjoy family time. Look forward to seeing you in suits and sequins.”

A well-deserved break after the Olympics and before the crazy madness of Strictly! Enjoy Dan x,” another fan wrote.

Despite the excitement surrounding his upcoming stint on the dancefloor, Dan doesn’t seem too hopeful of a big win.

Announcing last week via video link that he was joining the show, Dan told co-host Louise: “I’ll be honest with you, I’m not making any room on any shelves in my house for the Glitterball.”
