BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty has priceless response to troll after scathing insult

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty had a priceless response to a troll after a scathing insult.

The 47-year-old journalist has proven to be divisive on occasion while hosting BBC Breakfast thanks to her no nonsense approach and dry humour.

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty has had a priceless response to a troll who insulted her online

Naga was called a “w****r” by a Twitter troll but she clapped back quickly before her fans defended her

Luckily, it’s those same characteristics that help Naga brush off horrible comments from online trolls with aplomb.

Today, one troll tweeted her: “Only me who thinks Naga Munchetty is a bit of a w****r?”

Naga hilariously replied simply: “I doubt it.”

No doubt Naga will have been delighted to see her fans jump to her defense, with one writing: “TV would be better for more Naga’s – yes opinionated – yes not always everyone’s favourite.. but smart, funny and has a personality and lets that shine through..

“I’ll take more Naga style presenters every day of the week thanks…”

Another added: “@TVNaga01 is the bomb! We love you (and you make the news bearable!)”

A third tweeted: “Probably is only him, rest of us think you’re brilliant.”

Meanwhile a fourth said: “No one deserves abuse, if you don’t like @TVNaga01 then you have a remote to switch off.”

Naga previously opened up about the online trolls and the sort of sexist and racist comments she has received over the years.

She told the Daily Mirror: “I’m on telly, I’m in your home, so if you want to criticise me, fine. But I’m not there to be abused. Nobody is there to be abused.

“You don’t abuse someone while they’re doing their job, and you don’t make racist, sexist or bigoted comments.

“If someone says, ‘She did a bad job of that interview, I’ve come away and not understood anything’, I would go back and re-examine that interview.

“Racist and sexist stuff, I just think, ‘You’re an idiot.'”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
