BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty hits back at troll after being told they’re ‘not a fan’

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty hit back at a troll who told her that they’re ‘not a fan’.

The journalist, who usually hosts the show alongside Charlie Stayt from Thursday each week, also presents the Radio 5 programme from 10am to 1pm every Monday to Wednesday.

Naga has been working on BBC’s safety campaign 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Naga, 47, took over the radio from from Emma Barnett in January 2021.

As part of her show, the presenter went on a night out with a group of students in Leeds in aid of BBC’s current safety campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Naga was overwhelmed with the response, saying on Twitter: “We had an amazing response from listeners today – Thank you all for engaging with us @bbc5live Listen back on @BBCSounds 11am – 1om x.”

But not everyone had nice comments to say about it as one listener told the broadcaster what they thought of her.

They replied to her tweet with: “So sorry Naga, I’m not a fan of you.”

However they continued to praise her work by saying: “But I heard most of your interviews with Leeds young women today.

“They worry, rightly about drink spiking, general male harassment, feeling anxious – on a night out!

“Don’t want to wear a dress, in case it sends the wrong message. What! Xx.”

Naga simply replied: “Fan or not, am glad you listened to what they were saying, even if you don’t empathise with all their experiences.”

It comes after Naga abruptly called an interview to a halt during an awkward moment on last Saturday’s show.

The BBC anchor ordered guest Colin to “hold on” as the journalist began to chat away on the programme’s iconic red sofa.

He had been to see comedian Peter Kay‘s long-awaited comeback show at Manchester Arena.

As he began to recall some of the highlights of the Phoenix Nights star’s live performance, the BBC Breakfast host chimed in: “Hold on a second.”

Naga continued: “We are not going to spoil anything.”

Colin reassured fans he was not giving any content of Peter’s show away, only key themes.
