The first series aired on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer back in February and the ten episode series culminated in Geordie Shore star Charlotte, 33, giving birth to daughter Alba on camera.

An insider said: “The show was a hit for the BBC but with budgets these days, there’s never any guarantee of a second series.

“Bosses were determined to bring Charlotte back to the channel, however, as she is the perfect fit for the BBC Three demographic and they knew there was lots of mileage in seeing Charlotte’s journey as a mum continue.”

BBC have yet to formally announce the second series but are expected to within the coming days.

A spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by The Celeb Report.

Fans were on tenterhooks after the series finished airing and there was no word from the BBC about whether it would be back for another run.

But now the second series has been greenlit and the contracts are being finalised, within filming expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Charlotte recently finished filming the upcoming series of MTV‘s Geordie Shore but the shoot turned chaotic when she fell out with several of her castmates.

The Celeb Report previously revealed how her friendships with Marnie Simpson and Chloe Ferry were all but over after tensions boiled over during filming.

Charlotte even skipped filming key scenes for the series’ finale episode, including cast mate James Tindale’s leaving do before relocating to Dubai, because she didn’t want to interact with the two girls.

We also reported how Charlotte left filming the cast trip to Cyprus early after not being happy with the accomodation.

A source said: “Charlotte was really unhappy at how dirty the villa was that they were staying in – there were no cleaning products and she had her baby daughter with her.

“She got fed up and flew home early – the whole thing was really stressful and she just wanted to get home.

“It left a bad taste in some of the cast’s mouths but it was all great TV when she stormed out.”

Charlotte shot to fame as one of the original cast members of Geordie Shore in 2011.
