BBC confirms beloved quiz show has been AXED as host shares emotional goodbye – leaving fans ‘absolutely gutted’

A POPULAR BBC quiz show has been cancelled, and its host has been left devastated.

Zoe Lyons recently shared the news that her show Lightning has been axed after only two seasons.

The show has been cancelled

The BBC show saw its contestants battle to win the £3,000 prize by passing a light around to rivals of their choosing by answering questions correctly.

The contestant who was caught in the light when the timer ran out was then eliminated from the game.

Sadly, the show’s confirmation has been confirmed by the BBC, and fans are gutted.

Presenter Zoe, who was known for wearing a sparkly navy blazer during the show, has spoken out about the show not being renewed for a third season.

She posted a snap of her famous outfit to her Twitter account, along with a caption.

“Sadly all good quizzes must come to an end but I can’t tell you what a joy it was to work on @lightningquiz for @bbc2.

“We made 2 cracking series and I loved every second of working with my pals at BBC Belfast. Every contestant was a [star emoji] and you can still catch up on @BBCiPlayer.”

Fans were quick to comment on the post.

One wrote: “I hope you get another show soon Zoe as you were brilliant on Lightning, there’ll never be another quiz like this. I will miss it!”

Another echoed: “I thought the show properly found its feet in S2. What a shame to axe it now!”
