THE BBC has confirmed the return of regular TV scheduling today after programmes were shifted following the Queen’s death.
Instead of regular series shown on BBC One, coverage has been replaced by special tribute episodes and extended news bulletins to mark the passing of the Queen on Thursday.
The BBC has confirmed the return of regular TV scheduling to BBC One today
Sir David Attenborough, a friend of the late Queen, will see his Frozen Planet II series air at 8pm
Her Majesty died peacefully at the age of 96, with her family by her side.
Previously, the BBC told how BBC One would broadcast Royal coverage until Sunday morning.
The channel has aired a mixture of news specials and televised tributes to the Queen over the weekend.
It’s first non-Royal programme was coverage of the Great North Run at 10am today.
Today, the broadcaster has revealed how regular Sunday staple shows Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow and Songs Of Praise will feature special episodes.
Countryfile will broadcast an episode about Balmoral Castle, the Royal residence in which the Queen passed away, while Antiques Roadshow will focus on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Yet this will be followed by normal scheduling at 8pm, where Sir David Attenborough’s Frozen Planet II will be broadcast.
The Queen and Sir David were good pals, and previously spotted laughing as they shared a joke at Buckingham Palace in 2016.
Two years later, the pair collaborated for ITV documentary, The Queen’s Green Planet, hosted by the iconic conservationist.
Meanwhile BBC drama The Capture will return to BBC One at 9pm as the second series continues.
At the same time, the BBC’s rival broadcaster ITV has confirmed its Sunday schedule – with a huge twist.
Sunday’s offering sees iconic ITV soap Emmerdale airing in a different slot – this being at 6:35pm.
At 7:30pm, Gino’s Italy: Like Mamma Used to Make will air as billed, as will Ridley at 8pm.
The ITV news and weather will broadcast at 9:55pm in a change to listings, while at 10:30pm, a new documentary on The Young Elizabeth will air.
The Queen’s Green Planet will air at 11:25pm, while just after midnight, schedules make way for The Queen Remembered.
This means popular shows including Ninja Warrior UK: Race For Glory, Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals and Celebrity Lingo will be scrapped.
As too will Bradley & Barney Walsh’s series, Breaking Dad.
Countryfile will feature a special episode from Balmoral, the royal residence where the Queen passed
Fiona Bruce’s Antique’s Roadshow will feature a show from the Royal Yacht Britannia
