BBC Cancels DJ Target's Show
The BBC has decided to cancel the television show of popular Radio 1 Xtra DJ, DJ Target. The series, 'Tonight With Target' on BBC Three, will not be returning to the screen as confirmed by the Corporation.
Reason for Cancellation
In a statement to TVZone, the BBC mentioned that while there are no plans for another series of 'Tonight with Target,' they appreciate DJ Target and the team for delivering two exciting series. Viewers can still watch all episodes on BBC iPlayer.
Programme Highlights
The show highlighted black British music acts and featured celebrity guests along with performances from established and upcoming artists like Ghetts, Big Zuu, Eddie Kadi, Babatunde Aleshe, and Little Simz.
DJ Target's Background
DJ Target, a founding member of the influential grime group Roll Deep, transitioned from music to radio broadcasting. He also appeared in 'The Rap Game' alongside Krept & Konan, supporting new MCs.
BBC's Restructuring
The cancellation comes amidst BBC's plan to cut 1,000 jobs to address a £500 million budget reduction. BBC chief Tim Davie emphasized the need to evolve into a digital-first organization to stay relevant and serve its audience better.
