Senior weather presenter considers involving police after receiving online messages
Alexis Green, a senior weather presenter for the BBC, has revealed that she has received a series of "unwanted messages" online, prompting her to contemplate contacting the police. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Green expressed her distress regarding the messages directed at her. While she did not provide specific details about the nature of these messages, she stated that if the behavior persists, she will report it to the authorities. Green also suggested that some of the messages may be "threatening," and she vowed to block any account sending such messages and involve law enforcement.
This is not the first time Green has faced unwanted attention online. Earlier this year, she was involved in a court case after receiving a string of sexual messages and explicit photos. In an interview with BBC Breakfast, Green admitted that the harassment had a significant impact on her life and made her anxious about going to work. A 55-year-old man was later sentenced to 17 weeks imprisonment and given a restraining order as a result of his actions.
Green's experience with online harassment has had a lasting effect on her. She shared that she now feels afraid and takes precautions such as not going for runs alone. Despite the legal protection in place, she still carries the personal feelings of anxiety caused by the harassment.
