Ben Shephard loses it as Tipping Point contestant makes mortifying blunder – but would you get the question right?

BEN Shephard was left howling on Tipping Point after a contestant made a mortifying blunder when answering a question.

The ITV game show tests the knowledge and skill of players, however, one participant during Friday afternoon’s episode drew the criticism of viewers.

The pensioner made it clear that geography wasn’t his strong suit

Stepping up in a bid to win the coveted £10,000 jackpot counter was John, but his general knowledge appeared to let him down.

Ben asked John a number of questions and, with some of them almost giving away the answer, he failed to capitalise.

The host first asked: “The Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal runs through which country in the UK?”

Looking perplexed by the question, the contestant responded: “Birmingham?”

NAME CHANGER

Tipping point fans all say the same thing as contestant makes epic blunder

After mixing Birmingham – a major city in England – for the answer, Ben struggled to contain himself.

And the moment didn’t go unnoticed by those watching at home either, with many left ridiculing the contestant’s clear lack of geography knowledge.

Alongside an array of shocked-faced emojis, one person penned: “Birmingham’s a country? Could have fooled me.”

Echoing their comments, someone else said: “Who else knew that Birmingham was a country? Don’t worry, it’s news to me, too.”

While a third added: “Ah, yes. That well known country Birmingham. What a donut!”

It’s not the first time that a contestant has given a ridiculous answer to an easy question on the show.

Just last week, fans were left in “utter disbelief” after a player answered a series of questions with “ridiculous” answers.

Ben asked a participant: “A monowheel is a form of transport that has how many wheels?”

Straight in with the answer Mark guessed: “Four” – but Ben soon awkwardly revealed: “One.”

Tipping Point airs weekdays from 4pm on ITV.
