Better cast: Who stars in BBC drama?

BETTER is a brand new BBC police drama, that will have viewers hooked.

The five-part-series explores the complex and powerful bonds of loyalty and family, set in a world where everyone has their own version of “right” and “wrong”.

Who is the cast of Better?

Leila Farzad as DCI Lou Slack

Leila Farzad leads the cast as DCI Lou Slack in BBC One’s new crime drama Better.

Two decades ago her character struck a deal with Col McHugh which would benefit both of their lives, despite him living a life of crime.

But after her family “is brought to the brink of a tragedy”, she needs to correct the wrongs she has done by taking down Col.

Fans will recognise actress Leila from I Hate Suzie.

She has also starred in Avenue 5, The Fear Index, Innocent and Landscapers.

Andrew Buchan as Col McHugh

Andrew Buchan plays the other lead role of Col, who was once a low-ranking but ambitious newcomer in the Leeds criminal underworld.

However, with Lou’s help, he was able to transform his life and become very rich and powerful.

Elsewhere actor Andrew is best known for starring in ITV’s Broadchurch.

The talented star also played Andrew Parker Bowles in The Crown.

Ceri Davies – Samuel Edward-Cook

Taking on the role of Lou’s husband Ceri in Better is actor Ceri Davies.

As she comes to terms with a near death in the family, Ceri is by Lou’s side as she realises she must try and do the right thing.

Peaky Blinders fans will recognise actor Samuel from the show.

He has also played Walter Storey in the BBC drama Land Girls and DS Steve Beckton in the ITV series Innocent.

Anton Lesser as Vernon

Taking on the role of former bent copper Vernon is Anton lesser.

This character spent his entire career helping out criminals on the side, in return for money.

Actor Anton has also starred in Game of Thrones, Wolf Hall, The Crown, Endeavour and Star Wars: Andor.

Zak Ford-Williams as Owen

Playing Lou and Ceri’s teenage son Owen Zak Ford-Williams.

We are told his character goes through a traumatic experience which changes his “physical self quite dramatically”.

Meanwhile, Better is actor Zak’s big break, having only been in an episode of Wolfe prior to the drama.

  • Junade Khan as DS Pritam Khan

How can I watch Better?

Better kicks off TONIGHT (February 13, 2023) at 9pm on BBC One.

The series will then continue on Monday nights also at 9pm.
