BIG Brits Go Large has sparked major backlash as Channel 5 was slammed for ‘exploiting’ plus-sized stars.
The new docuseries looks at what life is like for plus-sized people in modern Britain.
The cameras follow best friends Jo and Nat from Manchester who run their own clothing business and have plans to take on the biggest names in the market.
Meanwhile People Just Do Nothing star George Keywood was seen preparing for his wedding day, and dance teacher Trina was putting her heart and soul into her curvy dance class.
However, viewers immediately took issue with the programme, and took to Twitter to air their views.
One wrote: “Oh look, Channel 5 are exploiting fat people for public amusement again, like they’re running a TV-based sideshow. Must be a day ending in Y. #BigBritsGoLarge.”

Another added: “What is the aim of this show ? Because it’s not showing any changes for the better it’s just following overweight people around ? This is terrible channel 5 do better #bigbritsgolarge.”
A third tweeted: “This programme is taking the wotsit out of the obese – the comic voiceover, the comedy style music. Why are these people taking part?? #bigbritsgolarge.”
The show’s hashtag featured a lot of mean comments, prompting some viewers to take aim at those who had posted them.
One wrote: “The comments on here are awful. You don’t care about these peoples health.
“You just don’t want to see them on your screen. No one is forcing you to watch. You have the power to switch over.”
Another agreed, writing: “Exactly my thoughts. They don’t care at all, they just want to insult them.”
Big Brits Go Large airs Sundays at 9pm on Channel 5.
