Trish's sudden eviction and Chanelle's tough exit interview sparked outrage among viewers
Last week, popular reality show Big Brother faced a backlash from viewers, receiving over 400 complaints to Ofcom. The complaints came in response to the eviction of contestant Trish and an intense interrogation of Chanelle on the spin-off show Late and Live.
Trish's eviction came as a shock to fans who had been calling for her to win. Many took to social media platforms to express their anger and disappointment, with some even suggesting they would report the show to Ofcom. One viewer commented, "Can we take this to Ofcom??? Trish going was a scene of distressing nature and we were not warned." Another said, "I WILL be spam sending Ofcom complaints bc there's no way Trish got eliminated."
Ofcom confirmed that they received a total of 133 complaints during the live eviction following Trish's exit, and an additional 328 during Late and Live, where Chanelle was interviewed about her behavior. The majority of the complaints were related to the questioning of Chanelle regarding her conflict with Trish.
During the interview, hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best confronted Chanelle about lying to Trish. The intense questioning led to AJ asking Chanelle who she was specifically talking about when she made certain comments. Despite initially hesitating, Chanelle eventually revealed the truth.
While some viewers applauded the hosts for their efforts to get to the bottom of the situation, others felt that the questioning was too harsh. The controversy continued when offensive tweets from Trish, including racist and homophobic content, were exposed online. Fans were furious and demanded action.
Trish later issued a lengthy apology, but it was too late. She was subsequently banned from making any future appearances on Big Brother. The unexpected turn of events resulted in a shocking double eviction.
