Big Brother Star Criticizes Emotional Surprise for Housemates

A former Big Brother contestant has voiced their disapproval of a recent episode of the show, which saw housemates receiving emotional surprises from home after just one week.

Too Soft for Comfort

Glyn Wise, who gained fame as a runner-up in the reality TV show in 2006, took to social media to express his opinion that the current housemates were being rewarded too early in the competition. He stated, "Is this a joke? People getting emotional about seeing pictures of their family members after a week of being in the house? I think we were tougher housemates back then!"

Agreeing with Glyn

Many of Wise's followers appeared to share his sentiment, with one even suggesting that the housemates were putting on an act for the cameras. They commented, "I’ve been around actors all my life and what you saw there is what we call stage tears. I couldn't agree more, it's pathetic. I don't want to spend the next 5 weeks watching these people getting rewarded. ITV are taking the p**s."

Emotional Reactions

In the episode in question, the housemates became emotional when Noky brought in photographs of their loved ones from the Diary Room. Each housemate took turns to speak about their picture and the significance it held for them, leading to tears being shed. Notably, trans contestant Hallie, 18, broke down while discussing her mother's support after she came out as transgender.

She said, "My mum has spent so much of her life putting her time and effort into other people and making sure that I am happy and comfortable with myself. She put herself in debt to make sure I could get my hormone treatment. And she’s just such an amazing woman and I just love her so much. She deserves much more than the world."

Looking Ahead

Big Brother will continue airing on Monday, October 16 at 9pm on ITV2.
