Bond girl Britt Ekland believes the next 007 film should go straight to streaming

Bond girl predicts the future of cinema

Bond girl Britt Ekland, who played Mary Goodnight in 1974's The Man with the Golden Gun, alongside Roger Moore, believes that the next James Bond film should skip the cinema and head straight to streaming platforms. She argues that home movies are the future and will eventually overshadow traditional big-screen releases.

Embracing the streaming era

Ekland, 81, expressed her views to The Celeb Report, stating, "I believe cinema will fade out and streaming is the way to go. We have to be realistic — yes, a new Bond film will sustain cinema for a while but I’m sure the way to make money in the future is streaming." She highlighted the convenience of streaming, mentioning how she enjoys combining watching exciting content with her exercise routine.

Transition to streaming

The last Bond film, 'No Time To Die,' starring Daniel Craig, raked in £600 million after its 2021 release. With Eon Productions, the company behind the spy films, now linked to Amazon-owned MGM Studios, the future of Bond movies could indeed see a shift towards streaming. British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is poised to step into the iconic role of 007.

Golden anniversary celebration

To commemorate the golden anniversary of The Man with the Golden Gun, Ekland will make an appearance at London's O2 on October 13, marking her contribution to the Bond franchise.
