Bridgerton season 2 first look as newcomer Simone Ashley shoots wild scenes at Royal Ascot

BRIDGERTON series two newcomer Simone Ashley has been spotted filming scenes at Royal Ascot.

The period drama – which will be back for a third and fourth season – will see the arrival of new Bridgerton lovebirds Jonathan Bailey and 26-year-old Surrey actress Simone, who plays Anthony Bridgerton‘s love interest Kate Sharma.

The on-screen couple enjoy a day at the races in the first photos from series two of the huge Netflix hit, with Regency society siren Kate stunning in a striking peacock blue gown.

Their relationship will be the focus of Bridgerton series two which follows Anthony’s quest to find love.

Producers will be hoping their romance will grab the hearts of fans as much as sex-mad couple Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings did in series one.

Dynevor was not on set this week at Royal Ascot, however the other popular cast members were spotted in the crowd including Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) and Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury).

Neflix achieved a record performance last year as coronavirus restrictions confined millions of people to their homes across the world and subscribers watched in droves to hit series including Bridgerton.

And the period drama Bridgerton will be back for a third and fourth series, Netflix has confirmed.

The double commission was announced even though work is only just beginning on season two.

Netflix told fans: “Breaking news from the Ton. Bridgerton is returning for seasons three and four.”

The series set in London around the start of the 19th century broke Netflix records when it dropped late last year, becoming its most-watched show in 83 countries.

In it, Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, 25, is the eldest daughter of a powerful and wealthy family who tries to meet a man to marry.

However series two will be without heartthrob Regé-Jean Page, 31, who quit as the Duke this month.

Netflix also posted a letter from one of its characters, Lady Whistledown. It read: “Esteemed members of the Ton, it seems we have a rather special announcement.

“Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. This author shall have to purchase more ink.”

Bela Bajaria, VP Global TV at Netflix called it a “beautiful, emotional, romantic drama” which “swept us off our feet”.

She said: “Audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”
