Mr Blobby was created in 1992 by one of the writers on Noel’s House Party for use in stunts pranking celebs who thought they were appearing on kids’ TV.
Originally portrayed by Noel himself, the character went on appear in sketches and other TV programmes in the 90s.
He topped the charts in 1993 with the Christmas single Mr Blobby – spending three weeks at No1.
The same year a range of toys were released but its popularity waned and the character- who is supposed to say nothing but ‘Blobby’ did not appear on TV for some time.
Interest was revived earlier this year when it emerged that the original costume had been listed on eBay, with Blobby popping up on This Morning and Dancing On Ice.
