However, none of the Britain’s Got Talent judges seem particularly keen to see the large pink and yellow monster.

Mr Blobby jumped out of nowhere and started attempting magic tricks on BGT – leaving Alesha Dixon alarmed.

The rotund character – dubbed a “TV personality” when introduced by producers – managed to rope in Simon Cowell, 63, for his final trick.

The show boss reluctantly sat inside a glass box, and was covered in pink slime.

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to share gueses over who was beneath the Mr Blobby costume.

One suggested: “Is Mr Blobby David Walliams in disguise? #bgt #bgt2023 #BritainsGotTalent.”

Another added: “I bet mr blobby on @BGT is @davidwalliams#BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”

And a third echoed: “Mr Blobby was definitely David Walliams #BGT2023 #BritainsGotTalent.”

Mr Blobby was created in 1992 by one of the writers on Noel’s House Party for use in stunts pranking celebs who thought they were appearing on kids’ TV.

Originally portrayed by Noel himself, the character went on appear in sketches and other TV programmes in the 90s.

He topped the charts in 1993 with the Christmas single Mr Blobby – spending three weeks at No1.

The same year a range of toys were released but its popularity waned and the character- who is supposed to say nothing but ‘Blobby’ did not appear on TV for some time.

Interest was revived earlier this year when it emerged that the original costume had been listed on eBay, with Blobby popping up on This Morning and Dancing On Ice.
