Over 100 viewers complained to the broadcasting regulator over the outcome – despite it being a public vote.
BGT has been hit by hundreds of Ofcom complaints
Furious fans have slammed the Sunday’s results
The Norwegian comedian triumphed over young dancer Lilliana Clifton and teen magician Cillian O’Connor in the final, prompting some fans to slam the show as a “fix”.
Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has revealed that it received over 116 official complaints shortly after the episode aired.
The complaints were said to be about the winner result, which saw hi-vis-wearing Viggo win a whopping £250,000 and a place on the Royal Variety Show.
While 69 others complained about judge Bruno Tonioli in an earlier live episode that same week, which related to a comment made about Nathan and Joanne’s routine.
Viggo’s name being announced seemed to receive a mixed response from the show audience, while many Britain’s Got Talent viewers at home were absolutely raging at the result.
Viggo’s final performance had consisted of him dancing around the stage to Daft Punk hit One More Time in a hi-vis jacket, as well as climbing into a balloon that covered his whole body.
Many felt it didn’t show as much talent as other acts, such as dancer Malakai Bayoh and young singer Musa Motha.
Taking to Twitter, one raged: “Can’t believe it! Cancel Britain’s Got Talent.”
Another added: “Malakai, Lillian, Gettho kids have been robbed by an unfunny ‘comedian’ and an idiot with stupid hair.”
A third tweeted: “Well that’s the last ever series of BGT. How ridiculous was the winner compared to the quality of the other finalists. Voter system must have been hacked.”
While others have praised the act as a breath of fresh air.
One wrote: “Well done this man Viggo brings me such joy, just what we all need.”
A second posted: “It’s great to see an act win that’s funny for a change & not a singer Viggo Venn had us in stitches.
“I said to my hubby yesterday he might win Lol. Looking forward to seeing The King in his hi viz jacket. Congratulations Viggo.”
This is not the first time that Britain’s Got Talent has been hit by Ofcom complaints from disgruntled viewers.
Last month fans complained after the ITV show aired a “dangerous” stunt involving Amanda Holden.
Massage therapist Andrew Stanton “traumatised” viewers by forcing a huge sword down his throat.
While the ITV show came under fire again when American Thomas Vu solved a Rubik’s Cube while he was covered in flames – leaving Simon Cowell and the rest of the Britain’s Got Talent panel stunned.
