Taryn's Golden Buzzer Moment
BRITAIN'S Got Talent golden buzzer act Taryn Charles had a prophetic meeting with Simon Cowell more than two decades ago. Last night viewers watched as singer Taryn received judge Bruno Tonioli's ticket through to the semi-finals after performing (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
Childhood Dream
While the panellist she is most hoping to impress is Simon Cowell, Taryn is well on course to potentially realize a childhood dream. "From a young age, I looked up to Simon," Taryn told the Mirror. "When I was growing up, he worked at a record label near our house. I met him when I was 15 and said to him, 'You’re gonna give me a record deal one day'."
Unexpected Golden Buzzer
In her audition, Taryn had to overcome nerves to perform the huge classic. "I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that nervous before," she said. "I remember jumping up and down and suddenly screeching that I’d wet myself. I hadn’t really, but it was the only thing I could think of to say. I didn’t feel I sang my best, so the Golden Buzzer was very unexpected."
Starstruck Appearance
Viewers also recognized Taryn from another ITV talent show, Starstruck. The singing contest, which had shades of 90s show Stars In Their Eyes, featured Taryn as Whitney Houston singing "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" along with two other singers.
Britain's Got Talent is available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX.
