Bulletproof’s Ashley Walters and Noel Clarke on brutal gun fights, car crashes & prison riots in South Africa special

BULLETPROOF’S Ashley Walters and Noel Clarke have teased explosive gun fights, car crashes and prison riots in the upcoming new series.

The two stars – who play cop buddies Pike and Bishop in the Sky One show – have lifted the lid on what viewers can expect to see during the three-part South Africa special later this month.

Ashley Walters and Noel Clarke have hinted that the new season is going to be full of explosive scenes

It comes after it was confirmed back in November that a spin-off series would be premiering at the start of this year.

In an exclusive BTS mockumentary style video held by The Celeb Report Online, the actors have opened up about what it was like filming the special in the beautiful country.

Director Sarmad Masud revealed that they always knew that the third instalment of the popular of the drama would take place in the UK winter, so the Top Boy star and Adulthood actor hatched a plan to film elsewhere.

Viewers can expect loads of shooting in the new series with a range of different guns

The duo thought that the perfect place to film would be one of South Africa’s capital cities – Cape Town.

Noel, 44, teased: “For these specials I think viewers can expect what we deliver all the time.

“More action, heart and soul, comradery, except in the sun! Working with South African crew has been amazing.”

Ashley, 37, added: “There are some really brilliant talent here. We were lucky to have them on board with us.”

Ashley praised the stunt team for their magnificent work on set

The likes of props master David Ryan Chandlier, costume designer Lauren Miller, director of photography Andy McDonnell, stunt coordinator Kerry Gregg and their very own armourer Ollie Steel have made the show a huge success.

Best pals Aaron Bishop (Clarke) and Ronnie Pike Jr. (Walters) get themselves into a lot of tricky situations during their ‘holiday’ to South Africa.

The pair are involved in a number of their own explosive stunts and have been able to get their hands on some real guns – including a Vektor SP1, Glock 17 and Browning Hi Power.

Viewers can expect explosive scenes with a number of car chases, massive shout outs, jumping off buildings and even using real-life grenades to blow things up.

Speaking out about their stunts, Ashley said: “No offence to the stunt team in London but the stunt team over here are really, really good.”

He added: “Obviously the level goes up when you can do bigger things. I hope that’s what people are coming back for.

“The vibe that we have, it’s an advenure.”

Noel continued: “Something about this show that is just different. Our characters are relatable…”

Noel and Ashley believe that their characters are very relatable

The dynamic duo decided that they wanted to film the series abroad

“What you see on the screen, is how we are off camera anyway. That’s the vibe we like to have on the set. That’s what makes it work,” Ashley added.

The spin-off, produced by Vertigo Films, follows the two trying to find a missing girl that was kidnapped right in front of the very eyes.

Despite being on holiday, the pair know it’s their duty to try and help find her.

After first hitting our screens back in May 2018, followed by a second season, which aired earlier this year, fans will be pleased to hear that they won’t have to wait much longer to see what happens for themselves.

Noel Clarke has also starred in the likes of Adulthood, Kidulthood and Doctor Who

Ashley Walters has played roles in popular shows such as Topboy, Bulletboy and Hustle

Executive Producer for Sky, Paul Gilbert, previously spoke out about the new series and said: “We’re really excited to see TV’s favourite cop duo back in action, but transported from the mean streets of London to one of the most beautiful coastlines on the planet.

“Played brilliantly by Noel and Ashley, Bishop and Pike will offer a New Year thrill ride to die-hard fans of the show and new viewers alike, as they navigate their way through an unfamiliar world to seek justice in their inimitable style.”

Co-founder of Vertigo Films, Allan Niblo, previously teased: “I’m thrilled to have Bishop and Pike burst onto our TV screens with a ray of sunshine to brighten up any dull January.

“Expect carnage, mayhem and comradery as they take on formidable new enemies.”

Bulletproof: South Africa airs at 9pm on Wednesday 20th January on Sky One and NOW TV.
