BBC drama Call the Midwife has halted production on the upcoming 13th series of the show.
The popular BBC favourite will be taking a break from filming with the show making a lengthy announcement online.

The cast and crew are on a summer break
It comes as bosses of the show have given the cast and crew some time off to make the most of the summer.
Sharing the post to Instagram, a photo of Nurse Nancy Corrigan actress Megan Cusack taking up the role of sound operator as she posed with a large boom microphone alongside one of the show’s crew.
Confirming the “summer recess,” the post from the show read: “This week has been the last week of filming before we take our regular summer break on the production of Series 13 – and there has been a definite end-of-term feel to proceedings…
“Down in the clinic, our brilliant Meghan Cusack (Nancy) felt inspired to swap roles withtrusty sound man Tom so she could try her hand at operating the boom microphone (I’m not sure she’s quite got the hang of it…)”
The post got everyone missing their favourite BBC One show as it made reference to a number of the characters.
They then shared another cast selfie as to which the post read: “Meanwhile, over at the Turner house, Patrick and Shelagh (Stephen McGann and Laura Main) sent us a summery kitchen selfie before they head off on their holidays.”
The pause in filming will allow a much-needed break for the cast, particualrly following some personal turmoil for some of the show’s stars who have found themselves facing heartache following a series of love splits.
Helen George split from co-star Jack Ashton while Olly Rix has also ended his long-term relationships in recent weeks.
The official account then went onto detail how filming can often take a ‘toll’ on the crew as many different hours are required to be worked.
It continued: “Filming days are long, and the hours are variable – sometimes the crew will need to shoot from early daytime into the very late evening to catch essential night scenes.
“Weeks of this, away from family, can take its toll – and so a good break in high summer allows the crew enough time to see their folks and get away for a holiday.
“The benefits to morale – and to the subsequent work – are enormous.”
It went onto add that the second half of the upcoming series would be recorded later this year, ready for broadcast in the New Year.
